Horn terminal Bo Madsen.

from 650.00

Reconstruction of drinking horn terminal, found by metal detectorist Bo Madsen.

The terminal measures 5x2 cm, with diameter of ca 1.5 cm. The piece is hollowed out and ready to be used on a drinkinghorn of your choosing.

This terminal is exceptional in its craftmanship and decoration. It features a double sided beast, with widely different expressions and styles. On both sides the larger beast is eating what is presumed to be a sacrificial animal.

The piece is dated to around the Scandinavian iron age, 550-800 AD.
